Healthy Ageing

Supporting Confidence, Mobility and Independence

Movement remains important throughout life. Changes in strength, balance, health or confidence can make everyday activities more difficult, but support can help people remain active and involved in the parts of life they value.

Physiotherapy May Assist With

  • Reduced balance or confidence when walking
  • Falls or fear of falling
  • Loss of strength or mobility
  • Recovery after illness, injury, surgery or hospital admission
  • Osteoarthritis and persistent musculoskeletal pain
  • Difficulty with stairs, transfers or community access
  • Maintaining exercise and physical activity safely

Practical and Individualised

Assessment considers the person’s health, home and community environment, current abilities and priorities. The plan may include strength and balance training, walking practice, mobility advice, falls-risk strategies, education and appropriate hands-on care.
