Meet Daniel

Daniel Smit

Physiotherapist
APA Titled Paediatric Physiotherapist

People don’t usually come to physiotherapy because they’re having a great week.

They’re often worried.

They’re frustrated.

Sometimes they’ve been living with pain for months.

Sometimes they’re navigating a new diagnosis.

Sometimes they’re simply trying to help their child, or get back to the sport they love.

Whatever brings you here, my first job is to listen.

Because before we talk about treatment, I want to understand what’s important to you.

My approach

I’ve always believed good physiotherapy starts with understanding.

Not just understanding the injury.

Understanding the person.

Your goals.

Your concerns.

Your family.

Your sport.

Your work.

Your everyday life.

Treatment should never be about simply reducing pain.

It should help you understand what’s happening, give you confidence moving forward and help you keep doing what matters most.

Why Strides?

When I founded Strides, I wanted to create the kind of clinic I’d want my own family to visit.

A place where people felt listened to.

Where questions were encouraged.

Where treatment was guided by evidence, but never lost sight of the person sitting in front of us.

Whether I’m working with a child taking their first independent steps, a teenager chasing sporting goals, someone recovering after surgery or a person living with a neurological condition, the conversation always starts in the same place.

What’s important to you?

Beyond the clinic

People often ask why I work across paediatrics, sport, adult physiotherapy and neurological and disability physiotherapy.

The answer is simple.

They’re all connected.

At every stage of life, movement helps people participate in the things that matter most.

Helping people achieve that is what I enjoy most about my work.

A few things I believe

  • Every person deserves to feel heard.
  • Understanding comes before treatment.
  • Good decisions come from good understanding.
  • Therapy should create possibilities and build independence.
  • Progress looks different for everyone.
  • Helping people keep doing what matters most is always the goal.

Ready when you are

Whether you’re booking for yourself, your child or someone you care about, I’d love the opportunity to help.
